Secretary Kathleen McGinty for brokering an agreement with Sherwin -Williams in
which the company decided to drop its challenge to Pennsylvania's new air
quality regulations that curb volatile chemicals in paintings and coatings. Architecture, industrial and maintenance (AIM)
coating standards went into effect earlier this year in Pennsylvania,
establishing volatile organic compound (VOC) emission limits for 48 coating
categories, such as paints, primers, stains , varnishes and other coatings.

Italy is a net exporter of paints and is slowly gaining prominence
as a base for the supply to markets in Central and Eastern Europe such
as the Czech Republic and Poland.
