to kick-off the Philadelphia Live 8 Concert by delivering 300,000 letters
calling for an historic debt, aid and trade deal for the world's poorest
people at the upcoming G8 summit on July 6th.
Philadelphia is just the first stop for the grassroots leaders , who
represent delegations from across the country. The UN has designated 2005 as the International Year of
Microcredit.
Despite this impressive record, less than one percent of World Bank funding

results of a new survey by the Microcredit Summit Campaign released at the
United Nations today. A 14-year World Bank study found three percent of Bangladeshi
microcredit clients left poverty annually because of microloans; one
percent of non-clients left poverty due to increased economic activity in
villages , and microfinance accounted for 40 percent of reductions in
moderate poverty in rural Bangladesh . After her second loan she was able to send her four oldest to
school and buy eight plastic chairs so the children wouldn't have to sit in
