The International Workshop for Seismo-Electromagnetics (IWSE) conference
in Chofu, Japan on March 15-17 attracted over 130 participants from Taiwan,
China, Russia, India , Italy, France, Mexico, Austria, Israel, Bulgaria,
Ukraine, Greece, USA and Japan. Amid the general pessimism, seismo-electromagnetic science is a new
and promising approach. We hope to
achieve the vision that people will be able to turn on their TV or computer
and see earthquake forecasts , just like they do today with hurricanes, tornado
warnings and weather forecasts. A final paper by Professor Bert Bolin, chairman of the IPCC during
the time when most of the material was produced , provides a response and
commentary to the critique.
The aim of the editor and authors, in presenting the material in this way,
rather than as a polemical tract, is to leave open to the reader the question:
Is global warming a consequence of man's activities, or are there other
reasons; if so, is adopting policies with significant economic consequences, a
reasonable response?

QuakeFinder is also starting to expand their ELF satellite and ground
monitoring to include "fusing multiple data sets" to provide multiple
simultaneous indicators prior to the earthquake.

At first glance this scientific foundation plainly shows that
significant climate change will occur unless emissions of greenhouse gases are
sharply curtailed.

cog illusory

Decades
of studies looking for mechanical or crustal precursors to large quakes have
not found any clear indicators. Papers presented at this conference indicate
the possible existence of a variety of subtle effects in the Earth and
ionosphere, occurring several hours to days before major Earthquakes, which
may provide the foundations of desperately needed short -term forecasts. The major problem in most of this research is
the low level of funding. Reputable scientists have expressed
critical views about the interpretation of the scientific results and, even
more, of the way the material is being used for policy purposes.
