Highlights of the survey findings include:
* If asked to vote today on a proposal to end affirmative action policies
at Michigan's government agencies and universities, 53 percent of small and
mid-sized businesses would vote/lean toward voting "Yes " while 31 percent
would vote/lean toward voting "No.

In the lawsuit, Tan claims Dolby discriminates against female employees in
promotions, compensation and job assignments in violation of Title VII of
the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII) and California's Fair Employment
and Housing Act.

the November 2006 ballot, would amend the Michigan constitution to prohibit
government agencies and universities from discriminating against, or granting
preferential treatment to, any individual or group, on the basis of race, sex,
color, ethnicity or national origin. Nor do a majority
of those surveyed think that business should weigh in on the issue. "And 71 percent
said they market products and services to racially and ethnically diverse
customers. Forty-seven percent of those surveyed ran

today released results of an EPIC -MRA survey that showed most owners and
managers of small and mid-sized businesses in Southeast Michigan favor a
proposal that would ban affirmative action at government agencies and
universities.
This finding is in direct opposition to big business' efforts to preserve
affirmative action policies according to Crain's publisher Mary Kramer. The lawsuit comes on the heels of a lawsuit
filed against retail giant Wal-Mart claiming similar
gender-based discrimination.
