EFFECTIVENESS OF LOW-CARB IN HUNGER
MANAGEMENT AND REDUCTION OF CARB CRAVINGS
A new study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine lends evidence
that helps refute
the common claims that low-carbohydrate nutritional
approaches, such as Atkins, only result in weight
loss because of water loss
or boredom with food selection. The researchers determined that "the overall
picture from both
case-control studies and prospective studies showed no association between
meat
consumption and colorectal cancer. They noted that the relationship here between
carbohydrate intake
and risk of stroke among the 78,779 women studied over an
18-year period was more strongly related
to the total amount of carbohydrate,
rather than to the quality of carbohydrate consumed.M.

calorie diet, or a low-carb approach that allowed 20
grams of carbohydrates per day and increased
