PRESS RELEASE Kansas DOT Celebrates Successful Enterprise Database Migration

Based on world-class Oracle technology Exor
provides clients with a modular approach to their individual technology
needs.
We know that the air we breathe normally contains hundreds of
microorganisms-bacteria, fungi, and viruses . "Many bacteria and viruses in the air elicit destructive immune
responses in some patients and we would like to explore these genes of
interest to human health.D.

Highways by Exor enables KDOT to maintain information about
the structure, condition and classification of highways to support agency
business operations and use the same data to generate the HPMS Submittal. In addition to more deeply characterizing the microbes we breathe
every day, researchers anticipate that the results will provide information
vital to designing systems that detect potentially dangerous biological
substances in the air. The air samples will be analyzed at
the Venter Institute's Joint Technology Center, one of the world's leading DNA
sequencing facilities, using advanced genome technologies that include high-
throughput DNA sequencing and bioinformatics.

We can build business processes that involve
location information easier. We are looking toward using a combined

The conversion of Kansas' legacy mainframe system, under the direction of
KDOT Project Manager, Ruby Bradley, and Ron Balsters, Geometric/Accident
Data Manager, involved migrating 10 years' worth of historical data about

The Venter Institute study is funded by a $2. Scientists will capture indoor and
outdoor air through filter devices, and then begin to characterize
quantitatively the microbial diversity.
The data will be made available to the global scientific community, and
the results of the genomic analysis will be released into the public domain
through the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), the home of
Genbank , at the U.3 million new genes
and at least 1,800 new species from water collected in the Sargasso Sea off of
Bermuda.

"Exor and Kansas have done a lot of work in making this migration process a
huge success," said Steve Voller, Exor COO. Exor
established its operating base in highways management and is rapidly
expanding into other strategic markets including rail, water, power
distribution and gas & oil .
Through its Sorcerer II Expedition, the Venter Institute is also applying
these techniques to characterize microbial biodiversity in marine and
terrestrial environments.
