Army for 35 years and rose to the rank of four-star general. Tan's popular stories are informed by her
Chinese-American heritage as they explore family ties and understanding ,

Kip Thorne
For four decades, astrophysicist Kip Thorne, 64, has been opening new
windows on the universe for scientists and lay audiences alike. In the second, a planet's presence is
inferred when it passes in front of its star, causing the star to dim, or
blink. This pinpointed exactly how much
infrared light belonged to the planets.

NASA's Spitzer Marks Beginning of New Age of Planetary Science

WASHINGTON, NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope
captured the light, for the first time, from two known planets orbiting stars
other than our sun. Deming is lead author of a new study on one of the planets. Upcoming Spitzer observations , using a range of infrared wavelengths, are
expected to provide more information about the planets ' winds and atmospheric
compositions.
