BACKGROUND: Battle of the Brains presented by the Virginia Lottery is the
only televised academic quiz show for high schools in Central and Southeast
Virginia.

keyword searches on Lean have been gaining ground recently.m. The competition draws students from over 200 schools throughout the
Commonwealth.
Each week from October through June, teams from two high schools compete
to answer challenging questions compiled by the Battle of the Brains staff and
advisory board. The winner each week proceeds to the next round of
competition.

The Intel Science Talent Search (STS) is America's oldest and most
prestigious pre-college science competition - often considered the
"junior Nobel Prize. The test scores determined each
team's ranking order.
